"The reason I'm here today is because I promised the kids of the Dominican Republic (and Haiti) that I wouldn't forget them." Those were the words of Karin Olivo as she addressed over 200 students at Jane Adams Middle School in Lawndale, CA in November of 2009. The call for help was made, and many schools like JAMS responded generously. Food collection drives ran consecutively in many local schools, organizations, and families.
